New sustainable development sardine tin sheds ‘pioneering’ in Cardiff

Want to be squeezed into a sardine tin as part of Cardiff Council’s ‘sustainable living’ and sustainable development programme?

Thirteen one or two bedroom shipping containers have recently been installed on Bute Street in the Welsh capital. This is a partnership between development company Cadwyn and Cardiff council to provide affordable housing as part of the Welsh Government’s ‘innovative housing programme’.

But like the 40,000 new homes that Cardiff council is currently planning for Cardiff in the coming years under its Local Development Plan, it seems that there’s still no housing priority for Cardiff or Welsh citizens first and foremost – even for these tiny tin houses.
