Charlotte Church shines in gig promoting Welsh sovereignty

Charlotte Church gave a fantastic performance in front of over 1000 revellers in a recent gig in Cardiff put on to make the case for Welsh independence

The venue was the Tramshed in Cardiff and some of Wales’ best artists – both Welsh language and non Welsh language – turned up to perform. These included the winners of the 2018 Welsh Music prize, Boy Azooga and also Los Blancos and Astroid Boys. Gruff Rhys, Gwenno Saunders and Cian Ciaran of the Super Furry Animals also dj’d on the night. The bands were introduced by a members of the Goldie Looking Chain from Newport.

The vast majority of the crowd were young people but there was also a healthy cross section of all ages as well as Welsh speakers and non Welsh speakers. Charlotte Church, dressed as a super diva that could probably eat Beyoncé and Cardi B for breakfast, strutted the stage like a tigress and ended the night with an amazing rendition of the Welsh national anthem. There have been numerous calls for more of these nights to be held all over Wales.
